The Corpse Breathes, But Just Barely

Gross Demostic Product in the US dropped again in the first quarter of 2009, even more than most economists had anticipated, but other economic signs were a bit brighter...

Consumer spending stayed a bit higher than expected, helped in part by low fuel prices and low interest rates. Let's hope those two remain favorable.

Some good signs out there.

Maybe the recession/depression will start to ease later this year, rather than continuing it's downward trend...

Some rays of hope are better than no, uh, rays of hope.

Some are better than none...

Anyway, it's not as grim as it has been.

US Economy circa 1st Quarter 2009

The Economy

.
The U.S. economy, ahead of some of our world trading partners and competitors, and behind some others, has taken an extended vacation, to the South, where it is warm. Very warm.

Farther South than the South of France, farther South than Mexico, farther even than Australia.

Currently the U.S. and most of the rest of the worlds economies are spending all their time in Hell.

Not expected to be back anytime soon.

Ok, now what do we do?

.
.

Good question, I'm glad you asked that question.

Long Time Gone

Been a month since my last post.

Yeah, that's probably for the best.

Instant Dissonance

Sort of like Instant Karma, only not quite as one with everything.
.
More like, as 1/3 with everything.

Obamanomics

The stimulus bill has passed Congress, and the President has signed it, and now we will see what happens.

I hope it helps.

The final bill seems laden with a lot of crap that won't create many jobs.

It would have been clearer if Congress passed a single focus jobs bill, then a single focus tax bill, then a single focus bill to help homeowners, etc.

But we have this instead.

I am still optimistic, but it looks like a lot of money is spent on many items that make very small differences.

Maybe they all add up to big differences, which we need.

Keep hope alive.
